With the threat of climate change becoming more imminent, many industries have prioritised climate resilience into their business and more specifically to their operating procedures. To be a climate change resilient entity, one must anticipate, prepare for, respond to and be constantly vigilant to the risks of climate change. A Climate Change Risk and Resilience Plan/ Strategy demonstrated how that organisation Is managing the risks of a changing climate. It identifies effective adaptation practices and resilience building as well as, outlines the organisation’s vision for a climate-resilient future.
Recently, Morphum Environmental was engaged by Melbourne Water to identify the impacts and risks of climate change on all service areas within Melbourne Water. Morphum together with Melbourne Water then assessed the strategies and resilience plan for each respective risk and developed a database on all the collected information. The database developed from this was then used to inform several executives from the Melbourne Water board.
The second stage of this project involved assistance in developing content for an updated Melbourne Water Climate and Resilience Plan. Policies, climate change data and industry-based climate and resilience plans were all reviewed as a part of this project. This was then used to inform and assist the client in developing the content needed for Melbourne Water’s own Climate and Resilience Plan. The content serves to accurately communicate the challenges and current activities to external and internal stakeholders.
Morphum Environmental’s experience in asset management and our ongoing project with Melbourne Water on developing a Flood Strategy ensured a dynamic approach to this project, and the delivery of an effective Climate Change risk & resilience database.
